Cod liver oil, as the name implies, is oil produced from cod's liver. It is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Now, cod liver oil does bring some bonus points—vitamin A, vitamin D, whole alphabet soup of good stuff. Vitamin D’s basically your bones’ BFF, not to mention it keeps your muscles from flaking out and your immune system from totally ghosting you. Sure, pop a supplement if you need, but if you’re just chucking back pills instead of eating real food, honestly, you’re missing the whole plot.
cod liver oil (that’s fish, 37%), regular fish oil (34%—so, yeah, more fish), a capsule shell made from beef gelatin and a splash of glycerol to keep things squishy, a hit of vitamin A (retinyl palmitate if you wanna get fancy), some medium chain triglycerides (because, why not), antioxidants like tocopherols (basically, vitamin E jazz), and vitamin D (cholecalciferol, if you’re still keeping score).
For adults, the recommended dose is usually 1 tablespoon per day with breakfast or lunch.
